Putting Product to the Test

SLP’s engineering lab plays a vital role in our company. It gives the engineering group a place to build, prototype and test product. In regards to testing, two of the most prominent testing capabilities in SLP’s lab are temperature testing and water testing. SLP has a dedicated heat test chamber, allowing us to generate in-house heat test reports for new, legacy and custom product. These reports help us validate thermal performance for products, at ambient or elevated ambient temps.

Water testing is also performed in a dedicated area in our lab, and helps us verify or “dial in” the level of water ingress protection (IP level) we are designing a specific product for. These products often are gasketed with our own pour-in-place gasketing system. Typical water tests we run in our water booth are IPx5, IPx6, and UL50 NEMA. Additional water testing done outside of our booth include IPx7 and IPx9.
