Why LEDs, Why Now?
SLP has focused on transforming our Citadel line to fully accommodate LED’s and continued to product components supporting LED’s and their development.
The obvious is savings yes LEDs will save up to 80% in energy but that’s not the whole picture
Let’s break it down.
- CRI better colour rendering index means better visibility of colours that would translate to better sales as customers and traders can distinguish colours better and more effectively this is also helpful to printing press car showrooms etc.
- Instant start with traditional lighting some customers are afraid to switch off their lights as it may take sometimes up to 8 minutes to come back again with LEDs not only they are an instant start but also an occupancy sensor that will add more efficiency and savings
- 30% brighter than traditional lighting LEDs have an advantage over traditional lighting that is directional lighting towards the ground where you need them while metal halide and fluorescents have drop in lumen output as well as reflection loss as they are 360 degree
- Safety with LEDs generally speaking most customers are running below the IES standards when it comes to lighting as they fail to properly maintain their lights the lumen drop on traditional lighting brings down the lux levels below safety standards with LEDs not only you will exceed the IES standards but your lumen drop does not exceed 2% yearly hence better-lit workplace is a safer workplace.
- Maintenance reduction LEDs are built to last traditional lighting has a rating from 15,000Hour to maximum 30,000Hour while a good quality LEDs are usually from 50,000Hour to 80,000Hour this will reduce your maintenance by 3 folds.
- Correlated colour temperature with solid-state lighting can improve productivity scientifically its been proven that whiter colour lighting mimics midday to humans hence increasing the productivity by reducing the melatonin and fooling your brain to be more productive.
- The additional safety that is usually overlooked due to a reduction in maintenance, as well as LEDs, don’t contain mercury or glass products can also be sources to be either food safe NSF or ATEX bomb proof or high IP rating for moisture and element controlled environments. These additions, when applied properly, can reduce injury or factory shutdown due to human error or natural disasters
